Problems with the Official TCP Script

Cognex official documentation provide an example script for pulling images from Cognex DataMan devices. The script resembles BarcodeSink, it allows you to pull images without relying on a FTP server, but has several limitations that make it unsuitable for production use.

  1. The Cognex script can only handle one connection. In contrast BarcodeSink was designed to handle hundreds of simultanious connections.
  2. If the header is fragmented for any reason, then the script's header parsing code will fail. BarcodeSink easily handles this.
  3. Finally, the script doesn't save any of the images it downloads. (This is easy enough to fix, but if you were wondering why the script wasn't working for you, now you know.)

If you want a robust solution that can handle hundreds of simultanious connections and arbitrary message fragmentation, BarcodeSink is for you. Please try our free demo.
